vs.
Velvet Amber Sage vs. La Fede Intoxicate
One costs $355. The other costs $19.89. Both lists include cinnamon, tonka bean, and amber.
Dolce&Gabbana's Velvet Amber Sage is built on one idea: the green, aromatic side of clary sage against the glow of amber, with praline, cinnamon bark, and roasted tonka bean for sweetness. It costs $355. Khadlaj's La Fede Intoxicate runs on cognac, cinnamon, tonka bean, and caramel, and it costs $19.89. To my knowledge, neither house presents one as a copy of the other. But they work the same sweet, spiced, ambery lane, and the price gap is hard to ignore.
Dolce&Gabbana Velvet Amber Sage
Perfumer Jordi Fernandez built it around contrast. Clary sage brings the herbal edge and amber brings the warmth. Praline adds sweetness, cinnamon bark adds heat, and roasted tonka bean and creamy cedarwood close it out. It launches in D&G boutiques and online in October, with Macy's to follow, and Sephora already lists it. D&G did not publish a top, heart, and base split, so the notes below are listed as the brand described them.
Amber
Praline Accord
Cinnamon Bark
Roasted Tonka Bean
Creamy Cedarwood
Khadlaj La Fede Intoxicate
Intoxicate is the busier of the two. It opens on cognac and almond over citrus and florals, warms into cinnamon, tonka bean, and caramel, and settles on vanilla, amber, and musk.
Lily of the Valley

Bergamot
Mandarin
Freesia

Where They Overlap and Where They Split
Both lists include tonka bean, cinnamon, and amber, and both lean sweet, with praline in one and caramel in the other. The differences show up quickly. Only the D&G has clary sage and cedarwood. Only Intoxicate has cognac, almond, coconut, and a long run of florals. On paper, the D&G leans herbal and amber, and Intoxicate leans boozy, sweet, and floral.
The Math
At $355 for 100ml, Velvet Amber Sage costs $3.55 an ml. Intoxicate costs about $0.20 an ml, roughly eighteen times less.
The Call
These are not twins, and the notes say so. If the clary sage and cedarwood are the draw, only the D&G has them. If cinnamon, tonka bean, and caramel are what you like in that pyramid, Intoxicate gets you into the lane for about the price of lunch. Neither bottle was worn side by side for this piece, so how each one lasts and sits on skin is still open. At $19.89, that is a cheap question to answer. Sage advice: test the $20 one first.
